version – 1.8.2 is released
- Resolve timezone issue
- Add a new setting, “GMT Add”, to make the displayed time match your locale
I get a fatal error trying to activate the plugin. It activated right after upgrading but it didn’t show any tweets. Using WP 2.9.2 with Arras theme. Looking forward to getting this twitter plugin back up! Thanks.
Your statement seems strange. You said that you get a fatal error when activating the plugin but you also said that you get it activated and did not display the tweets.
I can’t have a check on your case since you use another plugin now.
Thanks Susanto,
I’ll disable the other plugin. It is strange because when I activate My Twitter I get a notice saying that it triggered a fatal error and yet the plugin appears to be activated in the list. When I check the site, the plugin does not appear anywhere. I’ll go activate it and let you take a look. Thanks for your support!
So, what’s the status of the plugin now when you open the plugins page? Is it activated or not?
If yes, have you put it to the sidebar? I can’t find debugging code on your website.
You may try to deactivate and activate it again. If you don’t encounter the Fatal Error, this means good.
So sorry. I forgot to put it back in the sidebar.
Now I placed My Twitter in the bottom sidebar, deactivated the plugin and re-activated it. I still got the fatal error and like before, the plugin list says it’s activated. Now that it’s in the sidebar, when I check the site, the plugin is there but no tweets are showing. My twitter username is infurnari.
Thanks for all your attention!
Fixed it! I didn’t have anything in the Tweet Layout field. I assumed that the plugin had ported over my previous settings from the older version (which worked). I’m not sure what the fatal error thing is about but it appears to be working. Thanks so much for your time and for such a great plugin!
Dear Susanto,
Please note that “GMT add” only works for websites in areas that do NOT have daylight saving – for those with daylight savings, the times will be wrong half of the year.
The only way to do this correctly is to use the timezone that the website has been defined in, if it has a timezone defined (some don’t, they still the old wordpress offset option, in which case one go with that).
It is more complicated, but the only way to get correct times all of the year.
Yeah. Daylight savings make things complicated.
So, for the moment, they will have to modify/update the GMT Add to show the correct time
i upgrade to 1.8.2 and it’s completely not shown any tweet from my twitter.!!
it’s because my twitter post is “right to left” or my twitter user name have UPPERCASE letter because when i use anyone twitter user name twitt’s was show and plug-in setting work correctly.
How to download Older version.??
Please tell me your twitter ID so I can have a test
my twitter id is : Computerist2
http://twitter.com/Computerist2
Sorry, I can’t test it for the moment since I am doing lots of recodes to provide multiple accounts/widgets before going further.
my plugin work correctly now.
i don’t know how this problem resolved.
thanks
Would be nice if it were possible to change the “tweeted on” date (drop-down list “Date Format”) via template, because all given date formats are not standards compliant to ANY of the ISO date and time notation standards.
Ok, I’ll add a setting for custom date format. I am using drop down to make it easier for the plugin users.
… what isn’t bad. But you can’t cover the needs of all users
I live in Germany and the usual (sadly!) style here is “dd.mm.yy” – which sucks, because one cannot sort it in an easy way and it got replaced by ISO 8601 format a couple of years ago, which is yyyy-mm-dd.
All formats you provide in that very nice plugin seem to folow some non-standard notation styles commonly used in the U.S. and other countries. Which is okay, as long as one wants to use them
But i’m totally fixated on using standards as much as possible, so either adding both ISO notification styles (yyyy-mm-dd and the deprecated but commonly used short form yymmdd) or making it freely definable would be nice!
I just was looking for the same thing and turns out to be an easy hack. Open the setting.php file in the Admin folder in the xhanch mytwitter plugin folder. Around line 30 you’ll see $arr_date_format = array( ….
That’s where it sets the available date formats. I wanted one to show day name, month name date, hours and minutes with am/pm so I added the following option to the array:
‘l, F d, g:i a’ => ‘dayname, month, date, time in am/pm’,
Save and now in the mytwitter settings you have a new options. Works like a charm. Hit the php date/time format options to create your own formats. http://php.net/manual/en/function.date.php
Thanks for sharing the hack
Hi,
Really usefull and nice plugin. Easy to put in a page or post, but I’m struggling with embedding it into one of my php-files. Bottom of my newspage.
I would like to display only the latest tweet, maybe animated. But I cant fint the hard-code for that, with settings. I found some code on one of the older comments here, but that did’nt work, thing some peaces was missing.
Some to help out here?
Thanks people.
I think the latest version 1.8.3 will be much easier to be put on separate PHP file.
We are using your plugin and will mention your work in our next article about Twitter and WordPress… (work in progress) http://www.submitopresto.com/web/ to check it out.
Thank you and keep up the good work,
Hi, just installed your plugin, I get this error inside of the sidebar/widegt:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function curl_init() in /mnt/web5/13/59/5120159/htdocs/wp-content/plugins/xhanch-my-twitter/xhanch_my_twitter.function.php on line 156
Any ideas how to fix it? Thanks a lot!
That indicates that your server does not provide CURL. In this case, you can’t use my plugin. Please read the server’s requirement above.
version – 1.8.3 is released
Well, this one is a big update. Please be informed that your old settings will be deleted since this version implement new system for much better performance and great improvements. So, you’ll have to set it up again as a brand new plugin.
- Multi widget support
- Multiple profile system that will let you put multiple Xhanch – My Twitter widgets with separate settings for each widget. Each new profile will provide a new Xhanch – My Twitter widget.
- New layout for the configuration page
- Query/Database optimized that greatly reduced SQL query executions and all settings will be stored in a single record
- Update CSS to support multi widget (please refresh/relaod your webpage by pressing CTRL+F5 is you think that the layout is not as it should be)
Hi, thanks for all of the updates. Two problems with 1.8.3…
1) When the avatar is selected as the header image I get this error…
Warning: Missing argument 1 for xhanch_my_twitter_get_detail(), called in /home/djadams/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/xhanch-my-twitter/xhanch_my_twitter_header_style.php on line 32 and defined in /home/djadams/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/xhanch-my-twitter/xhanch_my_twitter.function.php on line 411
2) Each tweet is now shown as a list item with a bullet point (didn’t happen in the previous versions).
Yes, I forgot to test the Avatar header. It will be available in next version.
I cannot find your second issue. Have you refreshed your webpage (press CTRL+F5).
I’ve said that there are some CSS changes so that you must clear your browser’s cache.
Thanks… issue with the avatar heading is solved.
Re. the CSS… have a look at http://www.dadams.co.uk – prior to version 1.8.3 the individual tweets weren’t list items and didn’t have bullet points… now they do.
Nice, you tweaked it a lot, but …
Warning: Missing argument 1 for xhanch_my_twitter_get_detail(), called in /[***]/wp-content/plugins/xhanch-my-twitter/xhanch_my_twitter_header_style.php on line 32 and defined in /[***]/wp-content/plugins/xhanch-my-twitter/xhanch_my_twitter.function.php on line 411
… when selecting “your avatar and display name”. Plus: It does not show the display name but the user name. Dito when selecting “elegant twitter bird and display name”. no error message but still messed up: instead of displaying the name in the middle of the header, it’s shown at the bottom, which looks bad. Before update it looked fine. (plus: before the update it showed the display name here, too)
AND:
I selected to display the latest 5 tweets, but only 3 are displayed.
AND:
If i understand the option “Inc. replies?” correct, this plugin does not display replies unless this option is selected. Well, maybe i’m wrong with that guess, but i think this does not works, because i see my replies to others.
AND:
Still no standards compliant date/time display option in drop down list and still no possibility to define a pattern manually.
That name issue: I thought it would take the display name from Twitter and not from plugin settings. I thought the “name” field in plugin settings was for identification purposes only.
Header issue: Yeah, would be nice
In the version before the current version it was fine. I don’t have the old plugin version so i cant compare them.
Tweet number: Well …
* Username: derdirk
* Password: [blank]
* Tweet order: latest to oldest
* # Latest tweets: 5
* Inc. …: none checked
* Date Format: ? period ago
* GMT add: 0
* Tweet layout: @tweet – @date
I’ve solved the header issue and it will be included on tomorrow’s update
I’ve fixed the Avatar issue on v 1.8.4. Actually, the display name is taken from your setting (Widgets Settings -> Name). I think you put your user name in that field.
Yeah, I see you case (lowered header). Though I did not encounter the on my website). Will be checking on it.
Are you sure about the displayed tweet number? I’ve tested it with your twitter ID and it works fine.
Those replies refers to other people’s replies to your tweets not your replies to other people’s tweets. I haven’t figured out how to get rid of replies to other people’s tweets.
excellent… any chance you’ll put some simple i18n/l10n for the “period ago” option (function xhanch_my_twitter_time_span) ? as for every update I must manually edit and change the $periods and $tense…. thank you again!
I do plan to implement multi language system in the future. Just wait
version – 1.8.4 is released
- Add new new date base formats (dd.mm.yyyy and yyyy-mm-dd)
- Fixed: Header Style with Avatar mode
- Profile name may contain upper case characters (though it will be converted to lowercase automatically)
- Default profile provided for first time plugin users
Did you only say you fixed the header display issue, or did you test it, and if you tested it, what browser and theme did you use?
Well, if you add the following CSS stuff to your css.css in the profile directory, the name in the header gets displayed correct:
.xmt .header_48 a{
float: left;
}
I’ve downloaded the theme and test it there.
I’ve different approach to solve this case
I get an error on my feed now since the update:
Warning: Missing argument 2 for widget_xhanch_my_twitter(), called in /home/content/e/p/i/epitaphadmin/html/wp-content/plugins/xhanch-my-twitter/xhanch_my_twitter.php on line 144 and defined in /home/content/e/p/i/epitaphadmin/html/wp-content/plugins/xhanch-my-twitter/xhanch_my_twitter.php on line 166
Seems like you use the short code or template code since I forgot to test this feature.
I’ve solved it and it will be included on tomorrow’s update
Thanks so much! You rock! Any chance I can get the fix early?
I’ve sent it to your email
Thanks Susanto! You’ve been upgraded to TOTALLY rocking.
nice plugin!!! could be possible retweets appears??
great work!
ok. just wait for new enhancements
Is it possible to get the code for version 1.8.2? That worked perfectly well and 1.8.3 wrecked the style.
Don’t worry. v 1.8.5 should fix the CSS issue.
version – 1.8.5 is released
- Cross themes compliant
- Fixed: Short code and template code implementation
- Optimized CSS codes since it get minimized
Yaaa… that worked.
Sorry, forgot to add, thank you
Very nice! Thanks for the update!
Since I upgraded to version 1.84, and now 1.8.5 I cannot get twitter to work for me no more
I updated the code and put in the profile name but nothing displays any ideas?
I should point out it works fine if i use the widget its in the header that its not working for some strange reason
Perhaps it is caused by you did not fill anything for “Title” and “Name” under “Widget Settings”
That made no difference I am right in changing:
‘profile’ => ”,
to => ‘primary’
or should it be
‘
Your comment is not complete. Please resubmit
Your msg down below solved it thanks
version – 1.8.6 is released
- Retweet link available for Tweet Layout
- Set default scrolling setting so it won’t be scrolling too fast
cool update. is there a way to also display the things that i’ve retweeted… or am i just overlooking something? thanks…
version – 1.8.7 is released
- Turn the retweet link into nofollow
- Clean up a PHP notice occured in Header Style
- Fixed: not working @name_plain variable for tweet string
Hi,
Excellent plugin, but I’m getting a validation error – ID “xmt_profilename” already defined. (example – if I validate this page – ‘ID “xmt_xhanch” already defined’)
Anyway around this?
thanks
Ben
Thanks for reporting. I’ve fixed that XHTML issue
version – 1.8.8 is released
- Fixed: XHTML issue: duplicated element ID
- CSS update due to change of element ID
What does this mean? I’m using the template code to go in a sidebar and I also tried it on my static home page in the body. Neither worked, and I’ve tried the code different ways.
Warning: Missing argument 2 for xhanch_my_twitter(), called in /home/obny/onboardnewyorktours.com/wp-content/themes/onboard-template/sidebar.php on line 171 and defined in /home/obny/onboardnewyorktours.com/wp-content/plugins/xhanch-my-twitter/xhanch_my_twitter.php on line 143
Yeah. I made a mistake on the above manual.
It should be xhanch_my_twitter($args, ‘<profile name>’);
